Hindu Women Network – Empowering Self and Others while Enlightening the Spirituality
Dr. Neelam Jaiswal, PhD
It’s well known that several Hindu women in our society go through difficult time causing depression, loss of enthusiasm and self-esteem. This could lead to health and societal issues which ultimately affects the whole family as well as the community. The goal of the Hindu Women Network (HWN) of Atlanta, Cincinnati, and New York is to:
- Invoke Matru Shakti that resides in women for instilling self-esteem/self-respect
- Empower each other with positive purpose by sharing expertise and knowledge
- Create Seva Bhavna and offer support to women and family in need
- Cultivate Hindu values and wisdom in daily living
HWN has conducted several events on various topics including health, financial planning, legal and social counseling, building confidence, healthy relationship, handling challenges of living in a dual culture, balancing work/personal/social/spiritual life, cultivating religion and spirituality. All these events were interactive sessions where audiences also provide their perspective. At these events, speakers inspire the audience with their life stories and encourage them to fight with dignity “जल के नही बल्कि तप के जीना”. These events also include younger generation to get their valuable insights into the challenges they faced and also to understand their aspirations and the decision-making process they go through.
We have seen the positive impact of these events on our participants by seeing how empowered they become to handle tough phase in their life, positively handling work-life balance, making knowledge-based financial decision. Moreover, we have developed the guidelines to conduct these events which can be used by others to kick start in their area.
